Shelby M. Balik is an Associate Professor of History at Metropolitan State University of Denver who specializes in early American religion. She is currently working on her second book, Family Religion: The Politics of Practice in Early America, which will offer a religious history of family life that places the household at the center of eighteenth-century American religious culture.
