Mark LeVine
Mark LeVine is professor of modern Middle Eastern history, culture and Islamic studies at UC Irvine. He is the author or editor of over half a dozen books, including Heavy Metal Islam: Rock, Resistance, and the Struggle for the Soul of Islam (Random House/Verso), An Impossible Peace: Oslo and the Burdens of History (Zed Books, in press), and Why They Don?t Hate Us: Lifting the Veil on the Axis of Evil (Oneworld Publications, 2005). He is currently a visiting Professor at the Center for Middle Eastern Studies at Lund University, Sweden.
As a musician he has performed and recorded around the world with numerous artists.
