Carlyn Ferrari

Carlyn Ferrari is an assistant professor of English at Seattle University. She holds a PhD in Afro-American Studies and specializes in twentieth-century African American literature and culture with a particular interest in Black women’s literary studies and Black feminisms. She is currently working on two book projects about poet and civil rights activist Anne Spencer. Outside of academia, she lives for Janet Jackson and Prince. She is a writer and a thinker at heart, so you can find her lost in thought and meditating on the poetics of Rhythm Nation and Paisley Park.
