Martin E. Marty is is Fairfax M. Cone Distinguished Service Professor Emeritus in the University of Chicago Divinity School, where he taught for more than 35 years. He is the author of over fifty books, and an ordained minister in the Evangelical Lutheran Church in America. He has been a columnist for The Christian Century since 1956.
